Multiplayer mode lets you investigate as a group, out in the field, each on your own phone.

1. A host creates the game from an outdoor investigation and shares a QR code with the people around them.
2. Everyone joins by scanning that QR code, then gets ready (see the steps below).
3. Everyone follows the same geolocated route and competes on the leaderboard.

The mode is played together, in the same place: remember to stay within reach of one another during the game.

From an outdoor investigation, choose "Play together" to open the game lobby.

• An account is required to create a game.
• The lobby displays a QR code and a link to share with your group.
• You are the host: you choose the route and start the game once the group is ready.

To join a host's game:

1. Scan the QR code shown on their phone (or open the link they send you).
2. Sign in to your account (required in multiplayer).
3. Complete the preparation steps (geolocation, access, safety).

You need to be with the host: playing together takes place in the same place.

Yes. Multiplayer mode requires an account (Google or email address) to track your progress and your score within the game.

Guest mode is not available in multiplayer. Creating an account is quick and free.

A game can bring together up to 10 participants.

• Each phone counts as one spot on the leaderboard.
• Two people can share the same phone and investigate as a pair, for example a parent and a child.

Before setting off, each player completes three actions in the lobby:

1. Turn on geolocation (essential for the route).
2. Unlock access to the investigation (see the question about payment).
3. Read the safety guidelines.

Once all three are done, you are ready. If one of them is holding you up, an assistant appears on screen to help you.

Yes, each player unlocks their own access to the investigation, on their own account (individually, or through an already active season pack). Count on €7.99 individually for an outdoor investigation, or €29.99 for the outdoor season pack.

Thanks to the launch offer, one outdoor investigation is currently free on every account: the perfect chance to try playing together. The exact amount is always shown before any payment.

Jack & Mani is a freemium game: you start playing for free, then unlock the rest as you wish. Prices are shown in euros and may vary slightly depending on your country and currency.

1. Indoor investigations (interrogations in the chat)

   • The first 3 investigations are free.
   • After that, each investigation costs €1.99 individually.
   • The indoor season pack unlocks the whole season for €14.99.

2. Outdoor investigations (geolocated games)

   • Thanks to a launch offer, the first investigation is free (solo).
   • After that, each investigation costs €7.99 individually.
   • The outdoor season pack unlocks the whole season for €29.99.

You choose the option that suits you right when you unlock an investigation. The exact amount is always shown before any payment.

Don't worry, this is usually temporary.

1. Wait a few seconds for the payment to be confirmed.
2. If access still doesn't unlock, reload the page (a button offers to do this): your payment is not lost.
3. If the problem persists, contact us and we will unlock your access.

There are several solutions depending on your situation:

• A step is holding you up (geolocation, payment): the help assistant, available on screen during preparation, guides you step by step.
• You really can't get ready: you can share another player's phone and investigate as a pair.
• The host started before you were ready: no problem, finish getting ready and you'll join the game already in progress (see the next question).

If location is not working properly in the Jack & Mani web app, check that you have not denied location by mistake, and if not, here are the solutions to follow depending on your device.

On Android

1. Check the location permission

   • Open your phone's Settings.
   • Go to Apps then Browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.).
   • Check that the location permission is enabled.
   • Allow access to your location while using the app.

2. Turn on the phone's location

   • In the Android settings, make sure global location is enabled.
   • Check that the location mode is set to High accuracy.

3. Refresh the page

   • Refresh the page or restart the browser.
   • In most cases, your location is detected after a simple reload.

4. Avoid battery saver mode

   • Battery saver mode can disable or limit GPS.
   • Turn it off temporarily if necessary.

On iPhone (iOS)

1. Allow location for the browser

   • Open Settings then Privacy & Security then Location Services.
   • Select your browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.).
   • Choose While Using the App.

2. Check the permission on the site

   • In Safari, tap the address bar.
   • Check that location is allowed for the Jack & Mani site.

3. Refresh or restart the browser

   • Reload the page or close and reopen the browser.
   • On iOS, this is often enough to reactivate location.

4. Apps added to the home screen

   • If you use Jack & Mani from the icon added to your home screen (PWA), check that Safari is allowed to use location, then fully restart the app.

Yes, as long as you had already joined the lobby before the start.

Calmly finish your three preparation steps: as soon as everything is green, you automatically join the game in progress. You play the same route as the others, you simply start a little after them.

No. You can only join a game before it starts.

Once the game has started, the group is out in the field and spread out: it's not possible to bring in a newcomer along the way. They can then share a player's phone, or wait for the next investigation if the group moves straight on to another one.

The host generates and confirms a shared route for the whole group.

So everyone follows the same itinerary, meets the same characters and uncovers the same clues. This way the leaderboard compares players on equal terms.

Your score depends on your speed and the accuracy of your solution.

• A leaderboard per investigation appears at the end of each investigation.
• If the group moves through several investigations, a cumulative overall leaderboard tracks everyone's progress.

Solving correctly earns you more than giving up.

No. The game only depends on the players who have actually entered the investigation.

• A player who hasn't finished getting ready, who has left or who has closed the app blocks no one.
• If a player gets stuck along the way, the host can end the game to go straight to the leaderboard.

When all participants have finished, the leaderboard appears.

• The host can then launch the next investigation (each player unlocks their access), and the overall leaderboard updates.
• Anyone can also return to the map at any time.

Just reopen the game link while the game is still in progress to rejoin it.

On a weak mobile network (common outdoors), the display may freeze for a few moments then resume automatically as soon as the signal returns.

A multiplayer game is automatically deleted after a few hours, once the outing is over. This is normal: simply create a new one to play again.

No. Within a game, only your username and your score are visible to the other members.

Your precise location is never made public, nor shared with the other players. Geolocation is used only to power your own route (more details in the "Trust and safety" section).
